The day The Gathering announced the departure of Anneke van Giersbergen from the band, back in the beginning of May, proved to be a day of profound shock to me. It's not that it's painful to see the bands change from time to time. It's not even the fact that The Gathering's music has been a great companion to me over the past 8 years. Well, actually consider that statement as false – being one of the dearest bands is a reason for a profound shock.
