How can I get my bands music on iTunes? - 2007/01/30 13:43
Selling your music on iTunes is quite easy. The only thing you have to do is fill an online application form which can be found here:
https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZLabel.woa/wa/apply
So I did. A few days later Apple gave me the following reply, which gives you again a good idea about how music is distributed (and dominated by a single few) online:
Thank you for your interest in iTunes.
After careful consideration of your application, we believe that the most efficient way to get your content up on iTunes in a timely fashion would be for you to deliver the content through one of the several digital service providers with whom we currently work.
For your information, below is a list of several companies that can encode and deliver your music content to iTunes. Should you be interested, please determine which digital service provider is appropriate for your particular content. For Audiobook content, see below.
Please note that the companies listed below, regardless of their location, may be able to deliver content for global Artists and Labels.

Kind regards,

We, Kamikaze, are thinking about joining the CD Baby or The Orchad. Since we expect to sell both online and offline (<13.33 : see CD Baby vs. The Orchad) and we want the biggest (including MTV) we probably go for The Orchad. And yeah.. We know CD Baby is better for our own revenues for online music, but we don't give a shit. We are in it for the music, not the money.
